This Manual Handling eLearning training course has been developed to provide all employees with an understanding of the risks and hazards presented by manual handling, and the controls needed to prevent injury and minimise manual handling risk.
Introduction
Manual handling is one of the most common causes of injury at work and is responsible for over a third of all workplace injuries.

On completion of the course, successful candidates will be able to:

- Identify the health and safety risks associated with the manual handling of loads.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate action to take where such risks have been identified.

Methodology
This Manual Handling online training course contains a variety of text and image based content, practical demonstration video, progression questionnaires and a test in which the trainee must achieve an 80% pass rate to successfully complete the course.

Instruction
The course content, instruction and questionnaire are developed by a QQI Level 6 Manual Handling Instructor and QQI Level 7 Train the Trainer.

Important Information
While Online manual handling training is an excellent tool and may be used as standalone training, there are still situations where an employee will require practical manual handling training. For example, workplace specific handling equipment or control measures identified after a local or in-house Manual Handling Risk Assessment, etc. It is important to stress that on-going supervision of staff involved in the performance of manual handling tasks by suitably qualified personnel is essential if best manual handling practice techniques are to prevail at all times in the workplace.
